In the last assembly election in 2016, Arambag constituency had reelected TMC’s Krishna Chandra Santra to the legislative assembly of West Bengal. In both the occasions (2011 and 2016), he had defeated Asit Malik of CPI (M).
Electoral History
From 1987 to 2011, the seat was represented by CPI(M). Former Congress Chief Minister Prafulla Chandra Sen and Congress leader Abdul Mannan had represented the seat.
Background
Located in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, Arambag assembly constituency became a reserved seat from 2011. It is one of the seven assembly segments in the Lok Sabha of the same name.
