The concept of secularism in India, like so may other things was imported from the West. What exactly do we now mean by the word?
If secularism means no discrimination by the state against a religious minority, no man committed to democracy will quibble over it. But if secularism means negation of religious faith as a central point of democratic politics, if it means atheism, then it is time to have second thoughts about it.
