Background

Behat assembly constituency, which came into existence in 2008 in place of now defunct Sarsawa assembly seat following the recommendations of the delimitation commission, is one of the five assembly segments falling under the parliamentary seat of Saharanpur. Saharanpur Nagar, Saharanpur, Deoband and Rampur Maniharan are the other four assembly constituencies within Saharanpur Lok Sabha constituency. 

Located in the Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, Behat assembly constituency is formed by the areas covered by the Tehsil of the same name.
